About

I am Florencia, a British artist based in Bristol.  I was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

In my work I am interested in making sense of patterns formed from cut-up pieces of my own drawings.  I call it ‘picking up the pieces.’ I like the texture, fragility and temporality of paper and card, the strong presence of ink and the contrast of black and white and I also think about the shadows created by the edge of the pieces on the white background.  My work is about reassembling the pieces until I sense that they resonate with each other.

My hope is to inspire those who look at my work to find connections and follow their own visual journeys by losing themselves in the rhythm of the forms displayed.

In my native Argentina y was a student of Eduardo McEntyre and Adolfo Nigro.

I have a First Class BA Hons (2007) and an MFA (2010) both awarded by the University of Gloucestershire.
